Ted Wood has a degree in Business from the University of Wisconsin and a law degree from Baylor Law School, where he was a Notes and Comments Editor on the Baylor Law Review. He works as an Assistant Public Defender with the Harris County Public Defenders Office in Houston. Ted spends part of his time working on legislative issues and part of his time working on appeals. He has been a public defender since December of 2015. Prior to working for Harris County, Ted spent more than 13 years as an assistant general counsel for the Texas Office of Court Administration (OCA). From 1995 to 2002, he served as Randall County Judge from 1995 to 2002. Ted, who worked as a briefing attorney for the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo, has taught state and federal government classes at Amarillo College. Ted is married to Jani Maselli Wood, a fellow criminal defense lawyer. They live in Kingwood. He can be reached at ted.wood@pdo.hctx.net.
